Pink eye can be caused by a range of different factors such as a virus, bacteria, or in many cases from eye irritants.
Symptoms May Include:
-Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid
-Increased production of tears
-Thick yellow discharge that get crusty over the lashes
-Green or white discharge from the eye
-Itchy eyes
-Burning eyes
-Blurry vision
-Increased sensitivity to light
You will want to seek treatment for pink eye because it may be very contagious. A doctor will be the one that will be able to properly diagnose whether your pink eye is bacterial, viral, allergies or irritant related. If necessary, a doctor will put you on the right medication to treat your pink eye.
How Do I Prevent Pinkeye?
– Hand washing, especially if you touch the eye area.
– Do not touch the infected eye. The infection may enter the body through the nose and mouth.
– Avoid sharing washcloths, towels, pillowcases with anyone.
– Don’t share eye drops or make-up such as eyeliner and mascara. Discard any used eye make-up and replace it.
